board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend payment of 41.5
cents per share of common stock, payable on Sept. 1, 2017, to all
stockholders of record as of Aug. 9, 2017.

plan called American Water Stock Direct, which enables stockholders to
reinvest cash dividends and purchase additional shares of American Water
